My Guru teaches us to always try remaining (if possible) one level below what our financial status dictates...
Example, if I can afford to buy a BMW, I should probably consider a Honda Accord instead...
This helps ensure that we always live within our means... and don't have to borrow money from others... it may also help in other ways...

I am with your guru on this. :) My guru says 'just say yes' to every opportunity and that the Universe with provide. I am trying to find a balance between being overly cautious and over my head. But I think when my teacher says to say yes to every opportunity, he was talking more about spiritual opportunities and opportunities to push ourselves forward beyond our comfort zones, but I don't know that he was encouraging financial irresponsibility. Why would he do that? That would be silly! :)
